ATHEIST are considered the architects of the technical death metal genre. Alongside bands such as DEATH and later CYNIC, they would together define a sound that is a pillar of heavy music intensity and musical prowess - progressive technical death metal.Originally forming as a thrash metal act called Oblivion, then later becoming R.A.V.A.G.E, the band were a product of the highly active Florida death/thrash metal scene in the mid to late 80's.
